Virtual Hospital 2 can be played as both single-user and multi-user game. It is developed for Year 2 and Year 3 Nursing students at the School of Health Sciences, Ngee Ann Polytechnic. The game-based, learner-centered approach empowers students to build on knowledge learnt in the Nursing Science modules. In the multi-player mode, students are involved in collaborative learning as they work as a team to solve problems.
The game depicts real-life scenarios showing different types of patients with different clinical conditions. In the game, the students are trained in various skills, such as nursing care and management of patients. They are expected to demonstrate competence in caring for patients with various clinical conditions. Every appropriate nursing interventions lead to gaining points and progression in the game.
The app. is also a good tool to help the students develop clinical judgment, clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills through real-life scenarios.
